[di più]Great Explorations is St Petersburg's children's museum whose mission statement is "to stimulate learning through creativity, play and exploration". Its large building shares an entrance hall and car park with The Sunken Gardens in the north of the city. Inside there is a wide range of permanent exhibits which include The Fire Station, The Veterinary Office and the Supermarket which provide hands-on demonstrations and activities. Temporary exhibits change through the year: the current showing is 'Dinosaurs!' The museum has its own gift shop.
The museum also arranges a variety of day and vacation activities for children between the ages of 3 and 12 with an Early Learning Institute, birthday parties and museum sleep overs and a Summer Camp with field trips and workshops.
Opening hours:
Monday to Saturday: 10:00am-4:30pm
Sunday: Noon-4:30pm
Closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Years Day
Admission: $9
There is on site free car parking. The museum is wheelchair friendly
