Comments30.08.2005 Baron Garden Hostel, Rio De JanieroThis hostel was our first stop in Brazil and is conveniently located close to the centre (via bus or metro or walking) without making us feel insecure about various stories we had heard about Rio before leaving the UK.The hostel is up a steep hill which takes it away from the hustle and bustle of busy Rio life (plus is a good work out for your legs!) We were pleased to find a security guard on duty throughout the night right outside the Baron Garden and would have no hesitation in recommending the hostel to anyone planning a trip to Rio.The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast is fresh and tasty and it boasts a swimming pool which is great to cool off as Rio can get pretty hot! The rates are middle of the range but worth it to feel safe and secure in a city which is well know for trouble.Jacqueline Cowan & Neil ColesFor your comfort we have three bathrooms with hot water, a swimming pool, a lounge, cableTV and huge guest kitchen where you may prepare your own meal.The BaronGarden, besides being in the historical center of Rio near all museums, night clubs, restaurants and old churches, is also near The Sugar Loaf and Copacabana beach. Other tourist attractions such as the Statue of Christ can be reached easily, as well as the domestic airport.
