Sabanci Museum
Today i get really nice time and i feel really happy to learn lots of thing about Genghis Han and His Heirs. But anyway this is not an article about.now i try to write about my opinion about Sabanci Museum.
Sabanci Museum is located in Emirgan where is near the boshoporus so you feel great there before visiting. And maybe fallen love again with Istanbul. Well, the place was mansion of Sabanci Family who are the richest in Turkey. We called there Atli Kösk ( Horse Mansion )because of the horse statue which is in front of the House. From the outdoor the house is not so magnificent as your imaginary. But the garden is really beautiful with nice statues , beautiful trees and flovers and nice pool. There is some chairs also that you while you are sitting in there the view of Boshoporus really great. From the indoor the house really beautiful. Well for the beginning it is enough general view of the museum.
A litle history about there; between 1848 and 1884 the original mansion belonged in turn to Süleyman Re'fet Pasa and his wife Fatimatüzehra Hanim, Musevi Hoca Misak, Mustafa Resid Pasa's wife Adile Hanim, Küçük Mehmed Ali Pasa of Egypt, Mustafa Naili Pasa, Maksudzade Simon Bey, Khedive Ismail Pasa, the Egyptian government, and Khedive Mehmed Tevfik Pasa. In 1884 it was purchased by the Ottoman Treasury on the orders of Sultan Abdülhamid II and presented as a gift to King Nicola I of Montenegro. In 30 years it was used for as a Montenegran Embassy and royal recidence. In 1913 the Ottoman government repossessed the mansion and sold it to Behiye Sultan, the granddaughter of Sultan Mehmed V Resad. In 1925 the now derelict mansion was purchased by Prince Mehmed Ali Hasan, grandson of Khedive Ismail Pasa, and he commissioned the architect Edouard de Nari to build the present house. However, it remained unused for many years until Princess Iffet, the elder sister of Prince Mehmed Ali Hasan, made it her home in 1944. In 1949 Haci Ömer Sabanci began looking for a house in which he and his family could spend the summer months, and in 1951 purchased the mansion from the sons of Prince Mehmed Ali Hasan. After he purchased the bronze statue of a horse at an auction held in Mahmud Muhtar Pasa's house. in 1966 Haci Ömer Sabanci died and in 1975 and Haci Ömer Sabanci Company purchased. Between 1969 and 1999 was home of Sakip Sabanci and his family that i said it before. In 1998 the mansion, together with its antique furnishings and art collections, was leased to Sabanci University for a period of 49 years, and opened as the Sabanci University Sakip Sabanci Museum in June 2002.

Well now time to writing my visiting. This is my 3rd times to visit there. Last year i was visiting there for Picasso and Robin exhibitions. They were all great. This time i go there for Genghis Khan and his heirs. Happily that i go there in different weather conditions. Well the entering from the gate from the right you can see a really nice place for children that drawning pictures, playing games and doing some activities about the exhibitions. If you have children they will get great time in there. I was joining with my cousin before and we get really nice time together. than an area for getting tickets. After that you can find yourself in a beautiful garden. Take enjoy in there before entering the mansion. In mansion in the left you can get a stuff (i really no idea about the name) that like a phone that telling about the exhibitions as a guide. After getting this thing you can visit the exhibition. It takes three floor for the special exhibitions. The lighting is really good and on the back there will be some music that you feel more comfortable.
At the other side of mansion there is a really nice exhibiton about Sabanci Families, their works and special collections that they have. Also the furniture is also great that from their home. There is so many mirror that i was really excited. They are all antiques. After visiting the museum you can go out but i think you can get some times in café-restaurant. There are two; one of them is in mansion that you can use it in the winter and one of them is in balcony with great boshoporus view. The menu is nice for drinking and pretty expensive. For food the menu is not so rich just some salads,pizza....and they are also so expensive too. After your getting some times in café you can go to gift shop for buying some stuff about the exhibition. The shop is on the right side of entering door. Well i think the shop is not very big enough and the stuffs are not so interesting. And i have not bought anything from there. Also the stuffs are also expensive like all museums.
Well the area is really nice and getting unforgettable times in there.
Lastly ; the possitive things are area where building are stayed, garden, workshop for children, nice exhibitions, cafés,the stuff which is telling you exhibition.the negative things are uninteresting gift shop, the menu which is not rich. But totally the area is really nice to visit.
TAKE ENJOY
