[di più]The Jama Masjid or Friday Mosque is part of the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. Unlike the rest of the complex, the mosque area is open to the public without an entrance fee. This part of Fatehpur Sikri contains the white marble tomb of the holy man Salim Chisti and is a site of pilgrimage. Visitors typically make a small offering on the tomb of the Sufi saint, tie a small string to the stone jaali work screen and make a wish. Discrete and respectful clothing is essential in the mosque area.
The Friday mosque is included in the UNESCO World Heritage listing which covers Fatehpur Sikri.
