The Waterfront Boat Company operates a fleet of vessels which include a Catamaran, the sailboat "Spirit of Victoria" and various motorised boats. I've had the pleasure of being aboard a few cruises of varying duration and at various times of day, including a trip to Robben Island and a number of their sunset cruises. The latter is by far my favourite as it affords the opportunity to see the sun sink into the ocean and return as the lights along the coast come on. Naturally one also has a totally different perspective of the City, Table Mountain, Signal Hill and Robben Island.
Champagne flows freely during the sunset cruise (albeit in plastic glasses on some vessels) and bar facilities are also available, ensuring that the ambiance is always jolly and relaxed. The timing is also such that one can unwind after a long day and return in time to catch a show or dinner at the Waterfront or indulge in a number of entertainment options. It is advisable to buy tickets a few hours in advance to ensure that there is space, but that is also no problem - in addition to the bookings office, there are a number of vendors who sell tickets along the wharf. Absolutely a must-do experience for anyone visiting the V&A Waterfront.
