[di più]Erected in 1904 this memorial was constructed to commemorate the men of the Royal Sussex Regiment that fought and died during the Boer War in South Africa. The names of the 152 men that died during this conflict between 1900-02 are inscribed on the front of the memorial.
The monument is constructed from local Portland Stone and is surmounted by the figure of a bronze bugler with four artillery shells. It is a Grade 2 listed structure and now also commemorates the men that died at Louisberg and Quebec in 1759, in Egypt during the 1880s, and also in both World Wars.
It is located on the seafront opposite the southern entrance to Regency Square.
