[di più]Saint Bartholomew was built in 1872 and first opened its doors in 1874. Edmund Scott was its architect, he built it of red brick at a cost of £18,000. It is situated between London Road and the station, in the heart of Brighton.
The existing church pipe organ replaced a three-manual Holditch in 1901. It is a J W Walker & Sons on which few changes have been made, other than the addition of an electro-pneumatic system to replace the old and tired pneumatic device.
The Church can be hired for concerts and other events.
The Church of England Parish offers masses every Sunday at 9.30am (Family Mass) and at 11am (Solemn High Mass), which lasts between 75 and 90 minutes. Weekday services are from Monday to Friday at 12.15 and on Saturdays at 9.30. There is a Thursday school mass at 9.10 during the school term.
The Church is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4.30pm.
